What an affidavit involves

An affidavit is a sworn written statement made before an authorized official: the deponent's identity, the facts sworn to, the date and the place. Law offices prepare them from templates whose oath language must not vary.

The deponent's identity details come from an ID; the facts come from the case file or the client's account. Because the document is sworn, an error in a name or date is not a typo, it is a problem, which is why offices copy these values so slowly and carefully.

The data that gets filled in
